coti Leverages Civic to Give Users Independent Digital Identities

Web3 infrastructure and data protection firm COTI has signed a partnership with digital identity management platform Civic to provide users with privacy and self-sovereignty over their digital identities.

According to the announcement sent CryptoPotatoThe alliance will allow Civic to leverage COTI V2’s Ethereum-based privacy layer, which offers dynamic decentralized identity (DID).

COTI Collaborates with Civic to Protect User Identity

Digital identities refer to records of users’ data, credentials and identifiers on the internet. COTI V2’s privacy layer provides authentication, computation, and encryption services, allowing users to manage their digital identities to prevent data breaches, non-consensual monetization, and attacks.

COTI and Civic share the common goal of providing users with complete data privacy when interacting with decentralized applications (dApps) and exploring Web3 use cases. These dApps will interact with Civic’s digital identities and insights without accessing sensitive data.

COTI’s Dynamic DID leverages the network’s broken circuits, providing on-chain privacy with a computation speed up to 1000 times faster than other cryptosystems. Dynamic DIDs will benefit from Civic Pass, while Civic will be an integrated design partner with COTI V2 throughout all phases of blockchain development.

The Civic Pass is a verified credential and a special, non-transferable token that resides in the user’s wallet. It serves as input to meet anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements.

Civic Launches Physical ID Card

COTI and Civic believe their partnership is a big step in giving users their own sovereignty over their virtual identities, especially as more people enter the web3 space. Customers will be able to meet legal requirements without disclosing their data.

“We are excited to integrate COTI V2’s privacy layer into the Civic platform. Civic is the industry leader in identity management tools for Web3 and COTI will continue to partner with industry leaders. We look forward to working with Civic’s professional team to bring Dynamic DID into full production,” said COTI CEO Shahaf Bar-Geffen.
The announcement comes within 24 hours of Civic announcing the physical ID card as part of its ID system. The new product aims to combat fake AI-generated IDs and fraudulent ID schemes such as face farming.
