Where Do Axolotls Live? Axolotls are only found in two freshwater lakes in Mexico: Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco. Unfortunately, due to human encroachment, they are critically endangered. Pollution, habitat disruption, and diversion of water for human use have caused the axolotl population to dwindle.Aug 13, 2024
