What is the difference between actinolite and hornblende?
Hornblende and actinolite are both amphiboles. Hornblende is a widespread and common mineral in many types of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Actinolite is found in metamorphosed mafic to intermediate rocks. Actinolite's composition is Ca2(Mg,Fe)5Si8O22(OH)2.
