The classical form of actinobacillosis is a granulomatous glossitis, characterized by a firm swelling of the tongue, dysphagia, drooling and, occasionally, protrusion of the tongue. This form of the disease is also called “wooden tongue.” Granulomas, and even abscesses of the neck and head region, are also common.
