Is the war starting on social media? There was a response from Meta to Elon Musk’s lawsuit threat. As you know, Meta is the generic name of the company that Facebook is also a part of. Meta is also behind Threads, which has recently been perceived as the Twitter Killer. So how did Meta respond to the threat of litigation? Let’s look at the details.

Elon Musk threat to Meta

Meta has responded to Elon Musk’s threat of lawsuits against their new platform, Threads. Accordingly, he noted that none of the app’s employees have any former ties to Twitter. Meta’s text-based platform, Threads, has taken its place in the Market in collaboration with Instagram. In the aftermath of this move, it quickly gained immense popularity with tens of millions of records. It is the fastest downloading app ever and has become the most popular alternative to Twitter.

But just hours after Threads was released, Twitter’s lawyer Alex Spiro sent a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Accordingly, he alleged that the company had illegally copied Twitter’s platform by hiring former Twitter employees. The letter alleged that Meta “systematically, deliberately and unlawfully misappropriated Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property rights.”

What are the details of the letter?

Spiro’s letter demands that Meta immediately stop using Twitter’s trade secrets or confidential information. It also warned of potential legal action. Spiro, who stressed Twitter’s intention to protect intellectual property rights, also mentions the possibility of taking legal action and seeking injunctive relief.

According to Spiro, Meta has hired numerous former Twitter employees who allegedly had access to Twitter’s trade secrets and confidential information. He argued that the Threads app was developed with the intention of leveraging Twitter’s intellectual property to accelerate the Development of Meta’s competitor platform. Spiro claimed that this action violated both state and federal laws, as well as employees’ ongoing obligations to Twitter.

Response delay from Meta

Meta’s director of communications, Andy Stone, responded to these allegations. Threads addressed the allegations, noting that the engineering team did not include former Twitter employees. “To be clear: No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee. That is out of the question.”

Elon Musk says Twitter is taking legal action against Threads.
