Swiss hotel company Gabbani is set to use excess energy from its food production facility to mine Bitcoin, as electricity costs continue to rise in Europe. This move aims to solidify Lugano as a leading European Blockchain hub. In addition to the Bitcoin mining system, Gabbani will launch “The Banettone,” a product that supports Lugano’s Plan B project. Plan B is a joint initiative by Lugano and stablecoin issuing company Tether, which aims to leverage Bitcoin technology to modify the city’s financial structure.

To increase energy independence and sustainability, Gabbani recently installed a 100,000 KW solar system in its food facility. This Development will not only benefit the company but also provide extra energy for the Bitcoin mining operations. Tether considers Gabbani a trailblazer in the field and potentially the first of its kind worldwide.

Lugano, the city where Gabbani is based, has launched Plan B to accelerate the adoption of blockchain and Bitcoin in daily living. The city aims to extend the use of these technologies to small transactions between local merchants and large financial exchanges such as tax payments. Lugano’s Bitcoin initiative has attracted the attention of companies like ACME, which specializes in Bitcoin mining and renewable energy. ACME has partnered with Gabbani to contribute its expertise in research and development.

As a result of its efforts, Lugano has become one of the leading European blockchain hubs. The city has recognized Bitcoin, Tether, and LVGA (a local stablecoin) as legal tender, making them acceptable forms of payment for taxes and public services. This move demonstrates Lugano’s commitment to embracing new technologies and fostering innovation in the financial sector.

Overall, Gabbani’s initiative to mine Bitcoin using excess energy from its food production facility aligns with Lugano’s Plan B project and furthers the city’s goal of becoming a prominent European blockchain hub. This project not only showcases Gabbani’s commitment to sustainability but also positions the company as a trailblazer in its field. With partnerships and support from companies like ACME, Lugano is well on its way to achieving its vision of integrating blockchain and Bitcoin into everyday life..
