Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of defunct cryptocurrency platform FTX, is currently facing one of the biggest cases of white-collar securities fraud in Manhattan. Billions of dollars have gone missing from FTX, causing financial distress to former users and employees. In the latest Development, Bankman-Fried’s lawyers have objected to the US Department of Justice providing four million pages of discovery notes as evidence in the case.

The legal representatives argue that this move by the government is “fundamentally unfair” and violates Bankman-Fried’s rights to participate in preparing his defense and receive effective assistance of counsel. They claim that the government cannot dump millions of pages on the defense less than six weeks before the trial date. Even if Bankman-Fried were released on bail and given unlimited time to review the documents, it would be unfeasible for him to complete the review before the trial.

To address these concerns and safeguard Bankman-Fried’s right to participate in his own defense, the court filing is seeking a temporary release. Crypto analyst Adam Cochran believes that the four million pages of evidence could uncover shady dealings and co-conspirator testimony, suggesting that Bankman-Fried’s lawyers may be counseling a plea deal.

Bankman-Fried had been free on a $250 million bond for eight months after his extradition from the Bahamas and initial court appearance in the United States. However, his bail was revoked after accusations of witness intimidation involving former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison. Bankman-Fried has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

While the case against Bankman-Fried continues to unfold, the cryptocurrency community remains interested in the outcome. In the meantime, there are special offers available for cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance and PrimeXBT..
