Hack Letter from US Senators to SEC Chairman! “Fake Bitcoin ETF News is Unacceptable!”

While fake ETF news, the decline in Bitcoin and whether ETF approval will come today continue to be the main agenda topics of the cryptocurrency market, how the SEC’s X account was hacked continues to be discussed.

At this point, while many comments were made about the hacking of the SEC’s account and concerns about the SEC’s internal security procedures, two US senators wrote a letter to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler and asked him to explain the hacking incident.

US senators JD Vance and Thom Tillis asked the SEC to submit a report to Congress on how X accounts were hacked.

In their letter to Gensler, the senators stated that the hacking incident raised serious concerns about the SEC’s internal cyber security procedures and that they set a deadline for the report on the incident to be submitted by January 23.

“This hacking incident experienced by the SEC is unacceptable.

These incidents raise serious concerns about the commission’s internal cybersecurity procedures.

“This is also contrary to the commission’s tripartite mission of protecting investors, maintaining fair, orderly and efficient markets, and facilitating capital formation.”
The letter also asked Gensler several questions that he needed to answer. At this point, senators asked Gensler the following question: “Was X post made by someone within the SEC; whether the security breach altered the SEC’s planned schedule for making a final decision on Bitcoin ETFs; and whether it will be able to recover financial losses resulting from the SEC’s erroneous sharing of ETF approvals.” He was asked if he was considering doing so.

While Gensler has not yet made a different statement following the hacking of the SEC and the erroneous Bitcoin ETF sharing, the SEC said in a statement last night that they launched an investigation into the hacking incident and that they are conducting this investigation in accordance with US laws. executive.
