Microsoft has partnered with Axelar in an effort to provide new blockchain-based interoperability solutions and expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) through the Azure marketplace. Through this partnership, developers will have access to blockchain interoperability solutions from Axelar via the Azure Marketplace, which aims to accelerate blockchain adoption among Web3 enterprises and startups.

The main focus of the partnership is to explore how blockchain can help make AI more mainstream. Microsoft and Axelar will investigate the possibility of connecting private and public blockchains and utilizing Azure’s OpenAI services to create new Web3 experiences.

Microsoft’s goal is to provide options for developers and organizations that want to enable interoperability of multiple blockchain ecosystems with a single click. With this partnership, customers of Microsoft Azure Marketplace will have access to a programmable and secure blockchain interoperability solution, full-stack interoperability services, and Axelar General Message Passing (GMP) for seamless integration of functionality across multiple environments.

This is not Microsoft’s first venture into the world of blockchain. Last May, the tech giant joined forces with other major firms to support the launch of Canton Network, a blockchain network aimed at providing decentralized infrastructure to make transactions more efficient. Canton Network aims to connect financial systems together in a synchronized manner, allowing for interaction in terms of governance, privacy, permissions, and controls in regulated industries.

While Microsoft’s support for blockchain is evident, the same cannot be said for artificial intelligence. Eric Horvitz, Microsoft’s chief science officer, wrote an essay in early June addressing the potential and concerns about AI. The goal of the essay was to encourage users to remain open to new ideas about how AI can benefit humanity.

In conclusion, Microsoft’s partnership with Axelar aims to advance blockchain adoption and explore the intersection of blockchain and AI. Through the Azure Marketplace, developers will have access to Axelar’s blockchain interoperability solutions, and Microsoft is embracing the potential of blockchain technology to transform operations. However, the tech giant remains cautious about the implications and concerns surrounding AI..
