Casio Joins NFT Bandwagon Through Astar zkEVM Partnership
Casio, one of the world’s leading watch brands, joined the Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) race by collaborating with Astar. zero knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM). Casio watch NFTs are scheduled to be released on May 1.
Casio Chooses NFTs to Commemorate Its History
According to the announcement, this new development aims to commemorate Casio’s 50th anniversary. Astar Network also went to X to announce its important collaboration with Casio.
“To celebrate the 50-year legacy of the #CASIO Watch, we are excited to announce the launch of special commemorative NFTs inspired by the iconic CASIO watches, all featured in the YoPort of Astar zkEVM’s Yoki Origins journey!”
The Japanese watchmaker has signed strategic tie-ups with the creators responsible for creating the digital collectibles in this collection.
The Casio watch NFT collection, in particular, consists of eight pieces (artworks) that showcase a mix of works by different creators. Each piece of art will be a representation of a popular model of Casio watch.
Casio NFT Will Use Astar zkEVM’s Yoki Origins
This is Casio’s collaboration with Astar zkEVM, The powerhouse forged by Astar and PolygonIt is very important as it will help increase scalability. A few months ago Astar zkEVM, powered by Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) has started using Yoki Origins for a gamified user engagement experience. In this new collaboration with Casio, the Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution also brings the Yoki Origins experience.
Yoki Origins will feature the Casio YoPort capsule movement, one of the watchmakers’ creations. Casio has two flavors of YoPort, allowing those interested to purchase one NFT or eight NFTs. The art for this work will not be available for viewing until May 10, which is designated as Reveal Day.
Those who participate in the sale of Casio watch NFTs will have the chance to win different prices, including the original G-Shock and Primer worth 10,000 yen (about $64). The watch will bear the Astar zkEVM logo.
This marks another step by Casio into the NFT ecosystem. Eight months ago Japan’s popular watch brand launches virtual G-Shock watch In Polygon’s protocol. This was followed by the launch of a collection of NFT-based community access passes. Users were allowed to obtain one of 15,000 NFT-based G-SHOCK creative passes.
